Answering the call

 After 27 years of dedicated service, Alfredo retires from the United States Army with a legacy defined by commitment, skill, and quiet strength. In the years following the September 11 attacks, he answered the call to serve during a critical period in our nation’s history, deploying with the 368th Engineer Battalion out of Londonderry, New Hampshire. As part of a unit known for its motto “Faisons”—“Let’s do it”—Alfredo contributed to a wide range of vital missions, from constructing forward operating bases and maintaining critical infrastructure to supporting combat operations through route clearance and engineering expertise. Whether building roads, fortifying defenses, or helping shape the battlefield through geospatial support, his work reflected the battalion’s versatile role in both construction and combat engineering. Alfredo’s career stands as a testament to resilience, teamwork, and service above self, leaving behind a lasting impact on his unit, his community, and the country he served with honor.
